PET EVACUATION BILL NEEDS YOUR VOICE BEFORE MAY 1

SB-607, Louisiana's proposed Pet Evacuation Bill, passed the Senate
Committee but must now move out of the Finance Committee (a major hurdle)
before it reaches the floor for a vote. Please flood the Governor's office
with calls, faxes, mailed letters, and emails daily until SB-607 reaches the
Finance Committee on May 1.

Wildfire Damage in TX

Mclean3 About 2 weeks ago, wildfires destroyed 1 million acres in the TX panhandle.
It's estimated over 10,000 horses and cattle were killed.  Hundreds are still alive, but they (and their caretakers) need your help to stay that way.  Please see information at Habitat for Horses.

Tune into ABC April 6th

After the Storm - New Orleans" is scheduled to air Thursday, April 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network.

Working with the non-profit animal rescue organization Best Friends, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" producers flew in pets that have been relocated to foster homes and shelters around the country.

Strong Hearts and Arms Wanted!

Hay_1Remember the 3,400 bales of hay that were donated, and needed transportation to take to the MS and LA areas affected by Katrina and Rita?

The fantastic news is that after over a month of searching and countless emails & phone calls, there are now 6 trucks that will be ready to load and ride THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH.

Now the last CRITICAL piece is finding volunteers to load the hay from the barn into the trucks.

Here are the details - We need appx.  70 -80 strong and kind hearted volunteers split into 2 shifts from
8:00 - 11:00 and 11:00 until 2:00.  Refreshments and lots of gratitude will be provided.

3 trailers can be loaded at a time, from the large hay barn.

Appx. 12-15 volunteers per truck load will include people to:
1)load small pickup trucks to take out of the barns to the larger trailers
2)load from the pick up trucks to the trailers
3) people to stack inside the trailers.
4) people to drive the smaller pick ups from inside the barn to the
trailers.

Volunteers are welcome at any time, for any amount of time, but volunteering
for a shift  should help to make sure no one is over worked (or left
twiddling thumbs).

if you and/or your group can help, please email Ann Jordan ASAP at: cell:
704-287-7512 or email: Annj@CGraphics.com, and cc:bayourescue@yahoo.com with:   1)your contact information,   2) how many people will be coming with you
3) the hours that you can work

We are also looking for 3 pickup trucks for each shift, and a small
forklift.  If you can bring either of those, please let Ann know.
Directions to Rock House Road in Mocksville, NC are Mapquest-able
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!

PS - We are also still seeking donations to cover fuel for some of these trucks!
