1 Year Later....

August 29th marks the 1 year anniversary of one of the most significant natural disasters in our country's history.  Scores of people and animals were left homeless, or worse.

Bayou Rescue would like to join others in this time of rememberance of those that were lost in the storms, as well as those that have been lost to war and other disasters in the past year.

At the same time, we want to extend gratitude for the thousands of people from every state and other countries who sprang into action because they cared.  Thank you to all those who donated to animal and human aid organizations.  Thank you to those who left their jobs and families to volunteer in MS and LA, sometimes for weeks or months.  Thank you to those that have opened their hearts and homes to animals and people left homeless.  Thank you to the networkers, the journalists, the transporters, the vets in every state who treated the animals, and to YOU for caring enough to stay in touch with progress and ongoing needs of animals left in the wake of disaster.

It is good and honorable to remember those we have lost.  Likewise, this is an appropriate time to give thanks for the compassion that so many of you showed in such a time of loss.  Many blessings to you all.
