Help in FL

1084490608090852 The Humane Society of NE Florida is facing the prospect of closing the doors if it cannot raise enough funds to bring its facilities up to appropriate building code standards.

Based in Putnam County, one of Florida’s poorest regions, the 20 year old no-kill shelter is facing the being shut down if it cannot raise enough funds to bring its facilities up to appropriate building code standards. This volunteer-driven “labor of love” has been continually upgrading and improving: adding building extensions and new imperative equipment to help accommodate the 200 dogs and cats living at the shelter. Unfortunately, the equipment and additions have felt the ravages of time and are now less than perfect. The shelter has also been funneling much of their donations into their on-site spay/neuter clinic to help quell the glut of homeless pets in their community and beyond.
