FELINE HELPLINE
A rural NC cat lover has been inundated with unwanted cats and kittens after her local newspaper ran an article about her. Right now, there are 120 cats being housed in a trailer with no running water and only 2 kerosene heaters. The woman who currently has these cats on a rented property can no longer afford to care for the growing number of cats and kittens. There is not enough food nor heat feul to last past this week.
ALL CATS WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED IN JANUARY!!!!
PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING THE GIFT OF HOPE for these cats, who are becoming very ill in their crowded winter conditions. Time is of the essence.
Here's how you can help:
1) IF YOU ARE WITH A NON-PROFIT ANIMAL RESCUE, PLEASE TAKE A FEW OF THESE CATS INTO YOUR PROGRAM. We are currently working on support from pharmaceutical companies to help offset the costs associated with their foster and vet care, and all cats would be spayed/neutered for free by the NCSU vet school. This is the top priority. If your organization can help, please email Sabine French.
2) CONSIDER A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION TO HELP WITH VET CARE. Right now, kittens and cats need immediate treatment for worms, fleas, and other infections that are literally needed for some to continue living. You may make a tax-deductible donation for this rescue through Bayou Rescue. If you mail a check, please mark your donation "Reidsville Cat Rescue."
3) DONATE FOOD AND CAT LITTER. We are currently trying to come up with a drop off location for the month of December. If, however, you can gather some donations yourself, we'll be happy to pick up and organize delivery, please email Kelly if you and your friends can help feed 120 cats, even for 1 or 2 days!! Kelly will be making a delivery trip as early as SUNDAY DEC. 17th.
4) GIVE US SOME SPACE, preferably heated warehouse-type space that can be used January 6th and 7th, for a big triage and delivery of cats to the kind rescues. We may also need drivers to transport to out-of-state rescues.
This is an emergency -- we thank you in advance for your help!
