TX FLOOD - ACTION REQUESTED

Texasdog   Animal control officers are on the ground rescuing after a major flood in Gainesville, TX.

KAT5 Animal Rescue is also responding to help flood victims and their pets.  Bayou Rescue has assisted Kat5 in previous efforts, and we are offering to support them here as well.    For an update on the situation, please CLICK HERE.

Residents whose homes are destroyed are finding that they are not allowed to take their animals to motels. Most can not afford to board their animals. The shelters are beyond maximum.

The greatest need for the animals in Texas are supplies and funding to board until owners can retrieve them.   Temporary fosters are needed too.

If you can help, please contact Bayou Rescue at info@bayourescue.org or donate online through PayPal  OR contact Kat5 directly.

If you would like to make a donation, please mark "Texas Flood".  100% of donations will go directly to supplies, boarding, or transportation for these pets.

Donations to either organization are tax deductible.

Volunteer Training Opportunities

Interested in volunteering for future disaster response needs?

Remember, you have to be "invited" to respond to a disaster.  In order to appear on the guest list, it's important to have done your 'homework' first!

In July, there are 3 trainings offered by the NC State Animal Response Team (SART).  To register as a volunteer, and sign up for trainings, click here.

Most Bayou Rescue response team members have trained with Noah's Wish, E.A.R.S. , and/or NC SART. Other organizations that offer training curriculum include Best Friend's Animal Sanctuary and Muttshack Animal Rescue.

PLEASE NOTE:  The very basic courses that are required by any recognized animal response organization are:  IS 100, IS 200, IS 700, IS 800.  These and other relevant courses are offered online by FEMA for FREE.

Part of the Bayou Rescue mission is to provide funding for QUALIFIED volunteers to travel to areas of disaster.  We also need volunteers who are willing to support those volunteers from home base (care for animals, help gather supplies, etc.)

IF you are interested in being part of the Bayou Rescue Response Team (traveling or support), we'd love to hear from you!
