Make him REALLY Lucky

Luckyup_2 Several Bayou Rescue volunteers also volunteer on occasion to help transport dogs from high kill shelters in NC & SC to rescues in the Northeast.  Lucky was one such dog who was granted a reprieve for life when he was pulled in the nick of time from a shelter in Anderson, SC and adopted by a kind soul looking for just such a companion.

Rhonda Sims, who coordinates weekly transports, shared updates with her volunteers.  It obviously didn't take long for Lucky and his new dad to fall in love.  Unfortunately, over the past few weeks it has become apparent that Lucky was having some painful problems.  Lucky's vet reported that he had a torn right ACL and a partial tear on the left ACL.  Pain in Lucky's knees is compounded with pain from arthritis in his hips.

Lucky needs surgery to repair his legs so he can go for walks and leap pain-free onto his dad's lap.  His dad has already spent over $1000 on medications and vet visits.  His surgeries are estimated at another $3,000+. Luckyup4

Lucky's dad never once said, "I can't keep Lucky," as many folks do when faced with enormous vet bills, especially for a pet they've only had for a few months.  He's doing everything he can to care for Lucky in his new life.  He also has not asked Rhonda or the rescue for money, although it has become obvious that he does need some help.

Rhonda is trying to organize donations to help with some portion of the surgery. If you would like to help, you may donate at paypal.com, using the account sims164@juno.com.  No amount is too small!
