Thank you!!
We've had a big
year at Bayou Rescue. A year of growth, sharpened focus and a
strengthened foundation which will enable us to provide more community
support in 2009. You helped us make it possible, and we thank you. Here
are just a few of the things Bayou Rescue achieved in the past year
with lots of help from our friends:
+ Formalized partnership with the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross
+ Agreed to partnership with the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross, beginning January 2009
+ Responded to local fires in our area involving 26 animals
+ Became a partner agency of record with the North Carolina State Animal Response Team
+ Began work with Orange County Animal Services and Orange County
Emergency Response Services to assist in emergency co-sheltering plans
+ Coordinated 2 volunteer disaster relief trips to areas affected by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike
+ Participated in 5 community outreach events in Orange and Wake
counties, where we provided information and tools to aid in disaster
preparation
+ Held our first new volunteer training and orientation event
+ Provided numerous referrals to aid in non-disaster pet needs
involving miltary deployment, home foreclosures and owner illness
+8 Bayou Rescue volunteers completed the Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program
+ Provided instruction for the "Animals in Disaster" module for the Orange County CERT program
+ Unveiled a new website: www.bayourescue.org
+ Maintained a comprehensive blog with information on animal welfare topics, news and disaster preparedness
We look forward to welcoming new volunteers to assist in our Red Cross
responses in Orange, Wake and surrounding counties. We are planning new
trainings for the first quarter of 2009. We look forward to welcoming
new board members to keep up with our growing needs and services.
Sincerely,

Your Friends at Bayou Rescue
Friends.
In addition to
our dedicated volunteers and donors, we also want to give a special
thank you to partner organizations who have made it possible to provide
vet services, foster care, and all the other critical needs for
families after disaster.
